The efficiency required

I have been evaluation my potential schedule and I have isolated a number of time saving things that I will most likely need to do in order to properly optimize my time to be able to attend school and work full time. This blog will be dedicated to those changes, the results they have, and the process as a whole. Personal projects, mumblings and rants will still take place at jordanrinke.com only specific stuff to the Dr. Rinke adventure will be posted here and one I get it setup the content here should display on jordanrinke.com

A couple of things I have decided on already…

  1. The rebirth of SNAMS if not entirely, at least 2 meals per day.
  2. My clothing will switch to casual pants and polos which will all be interchangeable neutral colors so that getting dressed is a matter of select the top item from each division of clothing and will result in a somewhat business casual look. (I know, shockingly enough no more shorts during the week)
  3. All of my walls will be outfitted with shower board to provide excessive whiteboarding / note / analysis space all throughout the house keeping working material in sight at all times.
  4. Debating setting up the process to disassemble and scan/ocr any text books I have to purchase in order to make them ebooks and carry them on a tablet to reduce my total backup/mobile weight requirements
  5. Considering a scooter or small motorcycle to help offset the amount of back and forth travel I will need to do.
  6. Looking at recording options to either take video or minimally audio recording of my classes for review and study… not sure how professors will feel about that so I might try to devise a discrete way to do it, maybe as part of a hat or glasses mounted life blogging project etc.

Other things will be posted as I think of them or implement them.

Day of decision

So today (20110509) I have decided to embark on a journey to fulfill a life goal I have had since as far back as I can remember… to get my B.s., M.s., Ph.D in Computer Engineering.

I have tried twice before to go to school but it didn’t work out because I tried to fit it around my schedule at work and the progression of my career which always got in the way almost instantly.

This time I have decided to bend my career and lifestyle around my goal of going to school.

I will be making some changes that will seem rather drastic but I know that if I don’t do this it will nag me forever, and it only seems to be getting harder to even attempt as I get older and as life wants to get in the way more and more.

I will try to journal this process as I experience it over the next 8-10 years.

In time I may find that this path is not the one for me but for now at least it is what I feel I need to do, and I won’t know until I really give it a try.

If nothing else I should get peace of mind from this exercise, and hopefully one day I will be Dr. Rinke :-D
